Softball Game Preview: Parkland Matadors vs. Bel Air Highlanders

The Parkland Matadors will challenge the Bel Air Highlanders at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Parkland is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.

Parkland fell victim to Americas and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They came up short against the Trail Blazers, falling 12-0. The loss continues a trend for the Matadors in their meetings with the Trail Blazers: they've now lost five in a row.

Meanwhile, Bel Air had to endure a seven-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 14-11 victory over Horizon on Saturday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Highlanders considering their two-run performance the match before.

Andrea Saucedo made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and seven unearned) runs off eight hits. That's the fewest earned runs she has allowed since back in February. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Alexis Tellez was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. Sophia Lara was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Bel Air was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .467. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Parkland's defeat dropped their record down to 14-12. As for Bel Air, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 5-20.
