Basketball Game Preview: Dripping Springs Tigers vs. Westlake Chaparrals

Dripping Springs hasn't had much luck against Westlake recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Dripping Springs Tigers are taking a road trip to take on the Westlake Chaparrals at 7:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive.

It was a proper cat-fight when Dripping Springs faced off against Del Valle on Friday. Dripping Springs took down Del Valle 60-44.

Meanwhile, Westlake beat Del Valle 60-52 on Tuesday. Given the Chaparrals' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 85th, while the Cardinals are ranked 295th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Dripping Springs' win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-9. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points per game. As for Westlake, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.

Dripping Springs might still be hurting after the 55-34 defeat they got from Westlake in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can Dripping Springs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
