Pottsboro came tearing into Tuesday's match with 11 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.6 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 61-53 win over the Gunter Tigers. Given the Cardinals' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 312th, while the Tigers are ranked 761st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Pottsboro pushed their record up to 24-7 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.0 points over those games. As for Gunter, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 8-6 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Cardinals take on the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pottsboro knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully Rains likes a good challenge. As for Gunter, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Commerce at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Commerce has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
