Basketball Recap: Santa Fe Comes Up Short

Santa Fe was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a 65-27 loss at the hands of the Sandia Matadors. The Demons were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 47-8.

Sydney Benally continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Sandia, going 8-for-10 on her way to 19 points and three steals. What's more, Benally also posted an 80% field goal percentage, which is the highest she's achieved since back in January of 2024. Hope Giddings was another key player, putting up 11 points and five rebounds.

Santa Fe's defeat dropped their record down to 12-14. As for Sandia, they pushed their record up to 25-1 with the victory, which was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season.

As of now, neither Santa Fe nor Sandia have any future games scheduled.
