Football Game Preview: Johnson Jaguars vs. Reagan Rattlers

The Johnson Jaguars will challenge the Reagan Rattlers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Johnson knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Reagan likes a good challenge.

Johnson is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed past SA Roosevelt to the tune of 48-13 on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Jaguars in their matchups with the Rough Riders: they've now won six in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Johnson to victory, but perhaps none more so than Elvis Estrada, who threw for 386 yards and four touchdowns while completing 76.2% of his passes. What's more, Estrada racked up 137.4 passer rating, the most he's had since back in November of 2024. Justus Jeffery was another key receiver, picking up 152 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Johnson's defense and their three sacks. In that department, Jaydon Bell was the leader with two.

Meanwhile, Reagan strolled past Madison with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 29-13. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Rattlers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 164th, while the Mavericks are ranked 400th).

Johnson better keep an eye on Edwin Bridges. He was instrumental in Reagan's win, rushing for 194 yards on only 15 carries. Bridges' longest rush was for an impressive 68 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

Johnson's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Reagan, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.

Johnson strolled past Reagan in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 by a score of 21-3. Will the Jaguars repeat their success, or do the Rattlers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
