Basketball Recap: Trenton Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Trenton and Fort White squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Trenton had to settle for second. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 45-44 to the Fort White Indians. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Indians this season, with their most recent defeat being a 56-38 loss two weeks ago.

Trenton lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Nathan Ridgell, who posted 12 points and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason VunCannon, who scored nine points and seven rebounds.

Even though they lost, Trenton was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fort White only posted two assists.

Fort White's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tafari Moe, who had 21 points and seven boards. Moe's morning made it ten games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Jayden Jackspn was another key player, going 6 for 15 en route to 15 points.

Trenton's defeat dropped their record down to 15-11. As for Fort White, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-9.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Trenton will take on Hilliard at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hilliard is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 70.5 points per game this season. As for Fort White, they will face off against Madison County at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Madison County also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 62.8 points per game.
