Softball Game Preview: Hanover Area Hawkeyes vs. Mountain View Eagles

The Hanover Area Hawkeyes will head out to take on the Mountain View Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hanover Area has given up an average of 12.1 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Hanover Area lost 17-2 to Northwest Area on Monday. The Hawkeyes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Hanover Area saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Natalie Weidner, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run. Roxy Brandolino also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Mountain View hadn't done well against Forest City recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over the Foresters. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Eagles as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Izzy Hobart was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Abigail Mitchell, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Mountain View's victory bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Hanover Area, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-13.

Hanover Area was able to grind out a solid win over Mountain View when the teams last played back in March of 2025, winning 13-10. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hawkeyes since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
