Basketball Recap: Bowie Falls Despite Big Games from Aubrey Penn and Autumn Welch

After flying high against Bladensburg last Monday, Bowie came back down to earth. The game between the Bowie Bulldogs and the Parkdale Panthers didn't end well, with the Bowie Bulldogs falling 49-32. The contest marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Autumn Welch and Aubrey Penn certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Welch posted ten points, while Penn earned eight points.

Hannah Youn continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Parkdale, dropping a double-double with 19 points and 15 boards. Youn continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Zenai Ferebee, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 14 rebounds.

With the loss, Bowie broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-8. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.3 points over those games. As for Parkdale, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season.

Bowie has already played their next match, a 77-22 win against Laurel on the 14th. As for Parkdale, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 71-7 victory against Bladensburg on the 14th.
