Softball Recap: Higley Comes Up Short

Higley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the Desert Ridge Jaguars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Jaguars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-4 last Tuesday.

Samantha Parisi made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs while going 2-for-4. Ella Babcock was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Higley's loss dropped their record down to 6-15-1. As for Desert Ridge, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.

Higley is taking a road trip to face off against Mountain View at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Knights will need to watch out since the Toros have now posted at least ten runs in their last five games. As for Desert Ridge, they will welcome Williams Field at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Black Hawks have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.78 runs per game on average), something the Jaguars will no doubt try to take advantage of.
