Baseball Recap: Ridge Community Snaps Three-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Ridge Community won the last time they faced Discovery and things went their way on Thursday too. The Bolts came out on top against the Spartans by a score of 14-9. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Bolts' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Anthony Brooks made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

In other pitching news, Kameron Bullard looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Adrian Cuadrado, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Omir Santos, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-5.

Ridge Community's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-11. As for Discovery, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ridge Community will head out to square off against Frostproof at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Discovery, they will take on Auburndale at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Spartans are facing the Bloodhounds at the right time seeing as the Bloodhounds are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
