Softball Recap: Smithtown West Beats West Babylon for Their Fourth Straight Win

Smithtown West had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Wednesday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 1-0 W against the West Babylon Eagles. This was a revenge game for Smithtown West: when they faced off against West Babylon back in April, they had to take a 1-0 loss.

Erin McDaid made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season.

Smithtown West pushed their record up to 11-7 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for West Babylon, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-2.
