Basketball Recap: Cambridge Takes a Loss

Cambridge was the 62-48 winner over Bertrand when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Cambridge Trojans fell 67-57 to the Bertrand Vikings on Friday. The Trojans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Cambridge still got an impressive performance from Krayton Ruggles, who went 9-for-18 to rack up 27 points and six boards. Those 27 points gave Ruggles a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Braydon Miller, who went 5-for-7 on his way to 11 points.

Leading Bertrand to victory were Marcus Hernandez and Thunder Nelson. Hernandez went 8-for-17 en route to 24 points and seven rebounds, while Nelson went 9-for-17 to rack up 21 points along with six boards and three steals. The contest was Hernandez's tenth in a row with at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayden Hatfield, who posted seven points.

Cambridge now has a losing record of 10-11. As for Bertrand, their win was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-5.

Coming up, Cambridge will host Arapahoe at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Cambridge is facing Arapahoe at the right time seeing as Arapahoe is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Bertrand, they will take on Loomis at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
