Baseball Recap: Winton Woods Comes Up Short

Winton Woods extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 17 on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 0-9 in the process. They came up short against the Milford Eagles, falling 18-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-1 on Monday.

Lawrence Brown Jr made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

As for Milford, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games.

On Milford's side, David Kittrell was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave Kittrell a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Dan Cafferky, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one double.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Winton Woods will face off against Anderson at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Milford, they will challenge Walnut Hills at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Milford's pitchers better be ready for this one: Walnut Hills has averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season.
