Basketball Game Preview: Newcomerstown Trojans vs. East Canton Hornets

Newcomerstown hasn't had much luck against East Canton recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Newcomerstown Trojans will head out on the road to square off against the East Canton Hornets at 7:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 78-43, which was the final score in Newcomerstown's tilt against Buckeye Trail on Friday.

Meanwhile, East Canton ended up a good deal behind Malvern on Friday and lost 55-40. While losing is never fun, East Canton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 471st, while Malvern is ranked 168th).

Newcomerstown's defeat dropped their record down to 4-13. As for East Canton, their loss dropped their record down to 10-7.

Newcomerstown came up short against East Canton in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, falling 76-67. Can Newcomerstown avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
