Basketball Recap: Carol City Takes a Loss

Carol City and Monsignor Pace squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Carol City had to settle for second. They were beaten by the Monsignor Pace Spartans 63-6. The Chiefs lost against the Spartans in their previous head to head back in January of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 0-0 score last time.

Carol City got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of Trenia Baker and Danielia Lamey, who each put up three points.

Evelyn Cortes was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds for Monsignor Pace. The contest was Cortes' 12th in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Melissa Carrasco, who went 7 for 11 to rack up 18 points and five steals.

Carol City has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season. As for Monsignor Pace, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season.

As of now, neither Carol City nor Monsignor Pace have any future games scheduled.
