Baseball Recap: Shoemaker Wolves vs. Temple Wildcats
Shoemaker fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Temple on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 5-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-6 back in March.
Damian Montanez-Figueroa put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Montanez-Figueroa was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Sebastian Marquez was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Shoemaker has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-12-2 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Temple, they moved to 8-20-1 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak.
As of now, neither Shoemaker nor the Wildcats have any future games scheduled.
