Basketball Game Preview: Tri-Township Tigers vs. Hammond Academy of Science & Tech Hawks

Tri-Township has gone 8-1 against Hammond Academy of Science & Tech recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Tri-Township Tigers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Hammond Academy of Science & Tech Hawks at 6:30 p.m. Tri-Township is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 67-25, which was the final score in Tri-Township's tilt against South Central on Friday.

Despite the defeat, Tri-Township saw an underclassman step up: freshman Hector Osornio posted eight points in addition to eight boards and six steals. Those eight rebounds gave Osornio a new career-high. Chance Ringle also deserves some recognition as he scored his first points of the season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hammond Academy of Science & Tech). They took their matchup on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 73-17 victory over Portage Christian. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 45-15.

Hammond Academy of Science & Tech's win bumped their record up to 5-12. As for Tri-Township, their loss dropped their record down to 4-12.

Tri-Township was dealt a bruising 76-46 defeat at the hands of Hammond Academy of Science & Tech in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Thankfully for Tri-Township, Jermaine Bartlett (who went 10 of 21 en route to 31 points and three steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
