Preview: Christ the King Crusaders vs. Bishop McGuinness Villains

The Christ the King Crusaders will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Bishop McGuinness Villains at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Christ the King focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up five on Friday.

Christ the King fell victim to Community School of Davidson's stalwart defense and couldn't make it onto the board. They were dealt a 50-0 defeat at the hands of the Spartans. While losing is never fun, Christ the King can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 298th, while Community School of Davidson is ranked 104th).

Meanwhile, Bishop McGuinness got themselves on the board against Winston-Salem Prep on Friday, but Winston-Salem Prep never followed suit. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 45-0 victory over the Phoenix. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Bishop McGuinness had established a 38 point advantage.

Alex Waterfield continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 94 yards and three touchdowns, while also throwing for 111 yards and two touchdowns. Bishop McGuinness also got a significant boost from Isaac Ross, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 90 yards.

Christ the King has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season. As for Bishop McGuinness, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Everything came up roses for Christ the King against Bishop McGuinness in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 41-14 victory. Will Christ the King repeat their success, or does Bishop McGuinness have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
