Baseball Game Preview: Elida Bulldogs vs. Coldwater Cavaliers

Elida has won six straight games at home, while Coldwater has won six straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Monday. The Bulldogs will welcome the Cavaliers at 5:00 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Elida proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by ten) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Bath 6-4.

Ryan McGue spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Darien Jones was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Elida kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Saturday Coldwater sidestepped Bryan for a 3-2 win. Those three runs were actually the fewest the Cavaliers have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Elida is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Coldwater, their win bumped their record up to 12-1.
