Softball Recap: Mount View Extends Winning Streak to Four

Mount View entered their tilt with Montcalm on Thursday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They skirted past the Generals 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Golden Knights have posted since April 21st.

Phoebe Dudgeon made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with three RBI.

In other batting news, Malayah Barnes was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases and four runs. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last 16 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Krislyn York, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Mount View's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-7. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Montcalm, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-13.

Mount View will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Greenbrier West at 6:00 p.m. on the 19th. The Golden Knights will need to watch out since the Cavaliers have now posted at least ten runs in their last three games. Montcalm does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
