Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Seattle Academy). They were the clear victors by a 37-2 margin over the Rainier Beach Vikings on Wednesday. With that win, the Cardinals brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.

Wilder Hilen and Zach Bennett made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Hilen tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Bennett pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three). At bat, Hilen went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Bennett scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Dashiell Story was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and six RBI. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in runs (three). Another player making a difference was William Hendry, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with five runs, five RBI, and one stolen base.

Seattle Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .712. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Seattle Academy now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Rainier Beach, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Coming up, Seattle Academy will look to defend their home field on Friday against Nathan Hale at 3:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Cardinals 3.8, the Raiders 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Rainier Beach, they will head out to square off against Garfield at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
