Basketball Recap: Immokalee Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Kendrick Perry and Timarian Howard

On Thursday, the Immokalee Indians were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 46-40 to the Glades Central Raiders. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 375th, while the Raiders are ranked 138th).

Timarian Howard and Kendrick Perry certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Howard almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards, while Perry posted eight points.

Glades Central's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jes'Tin Dortch, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Dortch is also crushing it when it comes to blocks: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Chris Pompulus was another key player, going 5 for 8 en route to 11 points in addition to three steals and three blocks.

Immokalee has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-10 record this season. As for Glades Central, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-3.

Immokalee has already played their next game, a 58-35 win against Pahokee on the 24th. As for Glades Central, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 64-31 victory against Clewiston on the 24th.
