Softball Recap: Dublin Takes a Loss

Dublin had lost six straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped down to 5-8 to make it seven. They came up short against the Clayton Valley Charter Eagles, falling 6-0. The Gaels were not able to make up for their loss to the Eagles from their previous meeting back in March of 2017.

As for Clayton Valley Charter, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games.

For Clayton Valley Charter's part, Dublin's batters probably weren't too happy with Camdyn Alton, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 13 Ks (she gave up two walks). Those 13 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Alton.

On the hitting side, Clayton Valley Charter got a massive performance out of Maleeya Valencia, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Jazlene Shipe, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Dublin didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 10-2 defeat against College Park on the 1st. As for Clayton Valley Charter, they have also already played their next contest, an 8-6 win against Bishop O'Dowd on the 9th.
