Softball Recap: St. Charles vs. Patuxent Panthers

St. Charles had lost five straight at home dating back to last season, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 1-11 to make it six. They lost 13-1 to the Patuxent Panthers. If St. Charles was looking for revenge after losing 8-4 to Patuxent when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Patuxent, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-9. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Patuxent's part, Hannah Bruno made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. Bruno has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nia Mason, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Jasmine Somerville was another key player, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
