Softball Recap: Mcdonald Snags Seventh Win in Last Eight Games

McDonald won the last time they faced Lowellville and things went their way on Monday too. The Blue Devils came out on top against the Rockets by a score of 4-1.

Aubrey Evans was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Gianna Mancini was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Addison Grewell also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

McDonald is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Lowellville, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: McDonald beat the Rockets by a score of 5-1 later that day.
