Softball Recap: First Coast Takes a Loss

After flying high against Andrew Jackson on Wednesday, First Coast came back down to earth. The Buccaneers fell just short of the Hilliard Red Flashes by a score of 9-7 on Thursday. The Buccaneers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Red Flashes earlier this season, when they won 12-8.

Brooke Edmonds made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season.

First Coast's defeat dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Hilliard, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-12.

Coming up, First Coast will challenge Riverside at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Generals have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 18.92 runs per game on average), something the Buccaneers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Hilliard, they will square off against Union County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Red Flashes' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Fightin' Tigers have averaged an impressive 9.2 runs per game this season.
