It's playoff time, and La Vega had no trouble coming through when it counted. They took their matchup on Friday with ease, bagging a 62-35 victory over the Wimberley Texans. The Pirates' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

La Vega got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Bryson Roland out in front who rushed for 189 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.9 yards per carry. Roland's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 189 rushing yards. Kourtney Parr was another key passer, throwing for 263 yards and three touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes.

Roland was just one part of a punishing run game: La Vega was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 254 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 192 rushing yards in five consecutive contests.

When it comes to explaining why Wimberley lost, don't look at Cody Stoever. Despite the final result, he rushed for 162 yards and three touchdowns, and also threw for 116 yards and one touchdown.

La Vega's record is now 12-3. As for Wimberley, they moved to 12-3 with that defeat, which also ended their ten-game winning streak.

La Vega and Carthage will compete for holiday cheer at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. Carthage will roll in looking for their 15th straight victory, something La Vega surely won't give up without a fight. Wimberley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
