Soccer Game Preview: West Monroe vs. Ruston

The West Monroe Rebels will face off against the Ruston Bearcats at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

West Monroe had been on a three-game streak of scoring at least four goals, but Byrd put an end to it on Thursday. The Rebels fell just short of the Yellow Jackets by a score of 1-0. West Monroe's defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ruston). Everything went their way against Natchitoches Central on Saturday as they made off with a 7-1 win. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for Ruston considering their one-goal performance the matchup before.

The victory snapped Ruston's losing streak at three matches and leaves them with a 9-6 record. As for West Monroe, their loss dropped their record down to 11-2-2.

West Monroe was able to grind out a solid win over Ruston in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, winning 3-1. Do the Rebels have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bearcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
