Softball Recap: Rice Comes Up Short

Rice entered their match against Blooming Grove on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Rice lost 24-2 to Blooming Grove. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Bulldogs have suffered since April 11, 2024.

Rice saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cadence Van Cleave, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

This is the second loss in a row for Rice and nudges their season record down to 8-3-1. As for Blooming Grove, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 18-2.

While Rice had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
