Soccer Game Preview: Courtland vs. Monacan

The Courtland Cougars will challenge the Monacan Chiefs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Things were looking good for Courtland after they put the first goal on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. While the 2-2 score might suggest a draw, it was Chancellor who was credited with the victory. The Chargers got it done in the shootout by posting four goals to Courtland's two.

Monacan is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Henrico with a sharp 6-1 win. Winning may never get old, but Monacan sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.

Monacan's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-5-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 15 goals over those four games. As for Courtland, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-4-2.
