It was a good run, but St. Clairsville unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 72-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Martins Ferry Purple Riders. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Red Devils came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 74th, while the Purple Riders are ranked 368th).

St. Clairsville's loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 10-3. As for Martins Ferry, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Clairsville will host East Liverpool at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. St. Clairsville knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 13 matches -- so hopefully East Liverpool likes a good challenge. As for Martins Ferry, they will face off against Buckeye Local at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
