Football Recap: Leyden Comes Up Short

Leyden lost against Downers Grove South back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Eagles had to suffer through a 42-10 loss at the hands of the Mustangs. The Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 21-0.

Matthew Aguirre threw for 177 yards on 13 of 25 attempts. Christopher Stephens was his top target, picking up 74 receiving yards. On the ground, Nehemiah Almodovar rushed for 63 yards.

Leyden's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Downers Grove South, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-4.

Coming up, Leyden will face off against Hinsdale South at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Downers Grove South, they will head out to face off against Berwyn/Cicero Morton at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Downers Grove South is facing Berwyn/Cicero Morton at the right time seeing as Berwyn/Cicero Morton is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
