Baseball Recap: Newman Central Catholic Gets the Win

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Newman Central Catholic walked away with it. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over Chicago Hope Academy on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Comets in their matchups with Chicago Hope Academy: they've now won three in a row.

Evan Bushman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Daniel Kelly was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Garret Matznick was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Newman Central Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 27-7-1. As for Chicago Hope Academy, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 26-13 record.

As of now, neither Newman Central Catholic nor Chicago Hope Academy have any future games scheduled.
