Volleyball Recap: Van Wert Takes a Loss

Van Wert extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 13 on Thursday, dropping them down to 0-10. They came up short against the Defiance Bulldogs, falling 3-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cougars of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Bella Wise paced Van Wert's offense, picking up six kills. Wise got some help from Brissia Ickes and her ten assists.

As for Defiance, their win ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-8. They not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since October 16, 2024 (when they won 3-0).

Kate Homier was a one-woman wrecking crew as she had 12 digs and four aces. Those four aces gave her a new career-high.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Van Wert will venture away from home to square off against Wayne Trace at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Defiance, they will head out to face off against Wauseon at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.
