Soccer Game Preview: Hilldale vs. Poteau

Hilldale has won five straight games at home, while Poteau has won five straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Hornets will welcome the Pirates at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Tuesday, Hilldale was able to grind out a solid win over Sallisaw, taking the game 4-2. The victory continues a trend for Hilldale in their matchups with Sallisaw: they've now won three in a row.

Meanwhile, Poteau kept a clean sheet against Stilwell on Tuesday. They blew past the Indians 4-0.

Poteau has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 19 goals over those five contests. As for Hilldale, their victory bumped their record up to 13-2.

Everything went Hilldale's way against Poteau in their previous matchup back in April of 2023, as Hilldale made off with a 5-1 win. Do the Hornets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Pirates turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
