Baseball Recap: Shorewood Wins Going Away Against South Milwaukee

Shorewood hadn't done well against South Milwaukee recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Greyhounds were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Rockets. The Greyhounds might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.

Finn Knoernschild spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Shorewood got a massive performance out of Liam Travanty, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one run. Those four RBI gave Travanty a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Yanni Douros, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Shorewood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The win made it two in a row for Shorewood and bumps their season record up to 11-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for South Milwaukee, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-12.

South Milwaukee has already played their next matchup (against Brown Deer), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Shorewood will be paying especially close attention to the Rockets' game: after the Rockets face off against the Falcons, they'll take on Shorewood again at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
