Baseball Recap: Socastee Triumphs

Socastee can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the Conway Tigers 4-3. This was a revenge game for the Braves: when they faced off against the Tigers on April 11th, they had to take a 8-5 loss.

Logan Cook made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Socastee is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 1-17 otherwise. Cook was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jimmy Cocca, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Socastee's record now sits at 4-18. As for Conway, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-11.

Socastee didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 7-6 victory against Waccamaw on the 29th. As for Conway, they will welcome Georgetown at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
