Baseball Recap: Austin Comes Up Short

Austin extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping their season record down to 7-12 in the process. They came up short against the Galena Park Yellowjackets, falling 9-0. If the Mustangs were looking for revenge after losing 14-0 to the Yellowjackets when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Galena Park, the win keeps they at an undefeated 21-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average this season.

For Galena Park's part, Daniel Gomez looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Gomez has been consistent: he hasn't given up a single earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Cesar Amador was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Hector Arrieta, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one double.

While Austin had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
