Baseball Game Preview: Bellevue Christian Vikings vs. Montesano Bulldogs

The Bellevue Christian Vikings are taking a road trip to challenge the Montesano Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Bellevue Christian had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Seattle Christian on Thursday. The Vikings blew past the Warriors 11-3.

Mason Hill made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Declan Englund was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Cash Erdman, who went 4-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.

Bellevue Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Seattle Christian only posted a batting average of .276.

Meanwhile, Montesano entered their tilt with Hoquiam on Thursday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They were the clear victors by a 17-3 margin over the Grizzlies.

Montesano's win was their tenth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.4 runs over those games. As for Bellevue Christian, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season.
