Basketball Recap: Winters Mill Comes Up Short

Winters Mill was the 57-42 winner over Brunswick when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Winters Mill Falcons were just a bucket shy of victory on Monday and fell 50-49 to the Brunswick Railroaders. The Falcons' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it five in a row.

Despite the defeat, Winters Mill saw an underclassman step up: freshman Tate Steckel went 7 of 10 en route to 18 points. Those 18 points set a new season-high mark for Steckel. Another player making a difference was Ben King, who posted five points.

Winters Mill's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Brunswick, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Winters Mill wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 54-52 defeat against Westminster on the 17th. As for Brunswick, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 69-47 victory against Catoctin on the 14th.
