Basketball Recap: Dominic Vanacker and Reid Vining Secure Win for Farragut

While Farragut didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-22), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They came out on top against the Roane County Yellowjackets by a score of 70-58 on Friday. This was payback for the Admirals, who suffered an 82-72 loss the last time these two teams met.

Farragut was led to victory by Reid Vining and Dominic Vanacker. Vining dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds, while Vanacker dropped a double-double on 22 points and 15 boards. Parker Lane was another key player, putting up ten points.

Farragut was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Roane County only racked up 11 assists.

Despite the loss, Roane County still got an impressive performance from Aaron Layne, who went 10 of 19 on his way to 27 points and eight boards. The matchup was Layne's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Malachi Brown, who posted ten points and six boards.

Farragut's win bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Roane County, they moved to 10-2 with that defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Farragut didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 69-20 victory against Sequoyah on the 28th. As for Roane County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 68-46 win against Pickett County on the 28th.
