Softball Game Preview: Handley Tigers vs. Benjamin Russell Wildcats

The Handley Tigers will head out to face off against the Benjamin Russell Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Handley is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.

It was a proper cat-fight when Handley took on Munford on Tuesday. The Tigers took a 10-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lions. That's two games in a row now that the Tigers have lost by exactly three runs.

Makenzie McCain was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Olivia Cobb, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Benjamin Russell lost 12-1 to Chilton County on Tuesday. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Benjamin Russell's defeat dropped their record down to 13-17-1. As for Handley, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 14-16-1.

Everything went Handley's way against Benjamin Russell when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as Handley made off with an 18-3 victory. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
