Baseball Game Preview: North Augusta Yellow Jackets vs. Brookland-Cayce Bearcats

The North Augusta Yellow Jackets will head out to take on the Brookland-Cayce Bearcats at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. North Augusta's hitters haven't had much luck over their past three matchups, but Friday's contest will give them a chance to turn things around.

North Augusta took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Brookland-Cayce a 2-0 shutout. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Yellow Jackets have posted since April 29, 2024.

The result came thanks to Simeon Lorier's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, North Augusta saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dawson Canpbell, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Canpbell also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

Brookland-Cayce moved to 5-5 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for North Augusta, their victory bumped their record up to 2-6.
