Baseball Recap: Marysville Getchell's Losing Streak Snapped at Five Games

Marysville Getchell's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the Marysville-Pilchuck Tomahawks 5-3. The win was a breath of fresh air for Marysville Getchell as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Cooper Agen was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Agen was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with five stolen bases and two runs. He has become a key player for Marysville Getchell: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-13 otherwise.

Agen wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Wakin, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Marysville Getchell's victory bumped their record up to 4-14. As for Marysville-Pilchuck, their loss was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-17.

Marysville Getchell will have a chance to go back-to-back against Marysville-Pilchuck: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
