Basketball Recap: Hillcrest Comes Up Short

If Hillcrest was riding high fresh off their 80-57 takedown of Flomaton last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Hillcrest Jaguars fell just short of the Escambia County Blue Devils by a score of 55-52 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Jaguars have suffered since December 27, 2024.

Despite the loss, Hillcrest still got an impressive performance from J.T. Barlow, who went 12 of 26 en route to 32 points. The game was Barlow's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jasiah Grace, who posted seven points.

The defeat snapped Hillcrest's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 18-10 record. As for Escambia County, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season.

Hillcrest didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, an 81-48 victory against Flomaton on the 3rd. As for Escambia County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 50-45 loss against W.S. Neal on the 1st.
