Softball Game Preview: Chester Hambletonians vs. Valley Central Vikings

The Chester Hambletonians will head out to square off against the Valley Central Vikings at 9:45 a.m. on Thursday. Valley Central took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Chester, who comes in off a win.

Chester took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 14-0 margin over Beacon. The Hambletonians have beaten the Bulldogs the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Bulldogs has come to flipping the script.

Meanwhile, Valley Central came up short against Middletown on Monday, falling 11-5. The loss put an end to the Vikings' undefeated start to the season.

Emily Smit was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Adrianna Ferraro, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5.

Chester now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Valley Central, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Chester couldn't quite get it done against Valley Central in their previous meeting back in May of 2021 as they fell 8-3. Can the Hambletonians avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
