Preview: Breese Central Cougars vs. Cahokia Comanches
The Breese Central Cougars will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cahokia Comanches at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Breese Central put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They put the hurt on Herrin with a sharp 42-17 victory. Given Breese Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 123rd, while Herrin is ranked 313th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Preston Baker was on fire: he threw for 347 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 16.5 yards per attempt. The team also got some help courtesy of Griffen Becker, who picked up 205 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Cahokia beat O'Fallon 12-7 on Friday. The victory was just what Cahokia needed coming off of a 28-6 loss in their prior contest.
Cahokia got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jramuel Holman out in front who rushed for 130 yards. Correyontae Midgett also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
The win makes it two in a row for Breese Central and bumps their season record up to 7-2. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 22.5 points. As for Cahokia, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 5-4 record this season.
