Recap: Flagstaff Eagles vs. Mohave Thunderbirds
The Flagstaff Eagles posted their biggest win yet this season on Thursday. They blew past Mohave 65-39. The win made it back-to-back wins for Flagstaff.
Jake Centner was his usual excellent self, scoring 27 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. He has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played. Connor O'brien-piubeni was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with seven rebounds.
Despite the loss, Mohave saw an underclassman step up: Adrian Loya Pulido scored ten points along with eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that Loya Pulido pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Pedro Marentes, who scored six points along with two steals.
Flagstaff's win bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Mohave, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.
Flagstaff will be playing in front of their home fans against St. Mary's at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Mary's presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Flagstaff in Arizona (St. Mary's is ranked seventh, while Flagstaff is ranked 142nd). As for Mohave, they will head out on the road to take on Estrella Foothills at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Estrella Foothills is on a three-game streak of home losses, Mohave a seven-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change.
