Basketball Recap: Hoffman Estates Comes Up Short

Hoffman Estates lost against Regina Dominican back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Hoffman Estates Hawks had to suffer through a 54-19 loss at the hands of the Regina Dominican Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 524th, while the Panthers are ranked 227th).

Regina Dominican was led to victory by Olivia Fraterrigo and Jillian DeFranza. Fraterrigo went 8 of 13 en route to 17 points, while DeFranza went 5 for 11 to rack up 11 points and six assists. That's the most assists DeFranza has posted since back in December of 2024. Judy Fabianski was another key player, putting up five points and seven boards.

Hoffman Estates has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 13 of their last 14 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-24 record this season. As for Regina Dominican, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season.

Coming up, Hoffman Estates will square off against Wheeling at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hoffman Estates is facing Wheeling at the right time seeing as Wheeling is stuck on a 12-game losing streak. As for Regina Dominican, they have already played their next match, a 48-36 victory against Lisle on the 8th.
