Football Recap: Springfield Skates Past Holly with Ease + How To Watch

Springfield hadn't done well against Holly recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Longhorns claimed a resounding 58-20 victory over the Wildcats. Considering the Longhorns have won four contests by more than 31 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Springfield found their leader in sophomore Coltin Woodhouse, who rushed for 133 yards and three scores on only 15 carries, and also threw for 131 yards on only nine passes.

Springfield was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 361 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.

Springfield didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. SLAYDE COHOON led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself.

Springfield has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 44.0 points over those games. As for Holly, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Springfield will face off against Swink at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Longhorns will be up against the Lions' rather soft defense (which has allowed 46 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Holly, they will square off against McClave at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats will need to watch out since the Cardinals have now posted at least 31 points in their last six matchups.
